Judy Kuszewski, client services director at think-tank and consultancy SustainAbility, is now an independent consultant. Until 2000, Kuszewski was director of corporate programmes at Boston-based NGO Ceres, where she was the original project director for the Global Reporting Initiative. She remains a member of GRI’s stakeholder council.

Westpac, the Australian bank, has promoted Sally Herman to the new role of general manager for sustainability, brand and communications.

Pamela Muckosy has joined Ethical Corporation as research manager of the Ethical Corporation Institute. She was previously research officer at the Overseas Development Institute.

ArcelorMittal has unveiled its three-member corporate responsibility team in India. The steel-maker’s country head for corporate responsibility and resettlement and rehabilitation is Sudhir K Sinha. Sumana Datta becomes corporate responsibility head for the state of Jharkhand, while Bibhudendu Panda becomes head of corporate responsibility in Orissa.

GE Real Estate, the arm of General Electric that lends to commercial property developers, has appointed Stuart Brodsky as regional sustainability leader for the company’s North America Equity unit. Brodsky joins GE from the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Toby Kent, a director at corporate responsibility consultancy Corporate-Citizenship UK has left the firm and will be joining PricewaterhouseCoopers as associate director in July.

Friends of the Earth, the environmental campaign group, has appointed James Whiting as its new managing director. He will leave his current post as director of new development at the New Economics Foundation, a UK-based think-tank, to join Friends of the Earth in this new position in mid-July.

The Carbon Trust, the firm set up by the UK government to help big companies cut their greenhouse gas emissions, has appointed Peter Linthwaite as managing director of its Clean Technology Investment Partners arm. Linthwaite joins after stepping down as chief executive of the British Venture Capital and Private Equity Association in 2007.

Scotts Miracle-Gro, the US maker of garden fertiliser, has appointed Richard Shank as chief environmental officer. Shank succeeds Rich Martinez, who has been appointed to the newly created position of North America vice-president for sustainability.

Dow Chemical has appointed Donald Mascarenhas as head for emergency services and security and environment, health and safety implementation for the Middle East and North Africa region. Mascarenhas has worked for the chemicals and plastics company in Dubai.

The Bezier Group, the retail marketing firm, has appointed Paul Haycock in the new role of corporate social responsibility manager. Haycock joined from Rockware Glass, the UK’s largest glass packaging company.

Fullerton India, one of India’s largest credit card and financial institutions, has promoted M Balasubramanian to vice-president for corporate social responsibility.

Law firm Eversheds has appointed a new partner specialising in renewable energy. Marcus Trinnick, previously at Bond Pierce, has advised on more than 200 renewable projects throughout the UK and is also a board member of the British Wind Energy Association.

Carbon project developer Sindicatum Carbon Capital has appointed Gareth Phillips as senior vice-president. Based in Florida, Phillips will develop SCC America’s landfill gas projects. He joins from US Engineering firm the Shaw Group. SCC has also appointed Anna Lehmann as senior climate change officer in its Berlin office. She joins from 3C Consulting.

FourWinds Capital Management, the specialist natural resources fund manager, has appointed Andrew Nason to head its environmental group. Previously Nason was managing director at investment bank Lazards.

George Coelho, co-founder of venture capital technology investor Balderton Capital, has joined renewables investment firm Good Energies as managing director and head of venture capital.

Climate Change Capital, the environmental investment boutique, has appointed Ka Keung Chan as head of investments for Greater China. He was managing director of renewable energy at Hong Kong-based China Light & Power. Climate Change Capital has appointed Professor CS Kiang, the founding dean of the college of environmental services at Peking University, to its advisory board.

Carbon Trade & Finance, the joint venture between Dresdner Bank and Gazprombank that invests in projects generating carbon credits, mainly in Russia, has appointed Evgeny Sokolov as general director.
