BAE Systems, the UK arms maker, has announced two new ethics-related appointments to its senior management team. Raj Rajagopal becomes managing director, corporate responsibility, and Deborah Allen becomes deputy managing director, corporate responsibility. The pair will report to a board committee chaired by non-executive director Andy Inglis.

German manufacturer Siemens has appointed Barbara Kux as head of supply chain management. She will also serve as chief sustainability officer and take over the marketing of the company’s cross-sector environmental portfolio. Before joining Siemens, Kux was CPO at Philips.

Allianz Insurance has appointed Richard Foulerton as corporate social responsibility manager. He joins from the from the sustainability team of the former bank Lehman Brothers.

Ann Bryon has joined Littlewoods, the UK retailer, as group corporate communications director. She joins from DIY retailer B&Q, where she was director of corporate communications, covering corporate social responsibility.

At KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Elfrieke van Galen, who previously was responsible for corporate communications, is now working solely on corporate social responsibility.

Christine Bader is leaving oil firm BP, where she was manager of policy development, to continue her work for Prof John Ruggie, the UN secretary-general’s special representative for business and human rights. She has been on secondment with Ruggie at Harvard University.

The Food and Drink Federation, the UK industry group, has appointed Andrew Kuyk as director of sustainability and competitiveness. A former civil servant, Kuyk has worked mainly in the UK’s environment department.

The Climate Savers Computing Initiative, a campaign to cut computer energy use, has appointed Pat Tiernan as executive director. He joins after working on sustainability strategy and execution at HP.

The Mining Association of Canada has appointed Julie Gelfand as vice-president of sustainable development.

University of Chicago has appointed its first director of sustainability, Ilsa Flanagan. She was formerly senior vice-president at LaSalle Bank, and director of sustainable development at ABN Amro.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the consultancy, has appointed Malcolm Preston as chief executive officer of the firm’s sustainability and climate change practice. PwC has made a number of recent partner appointments in the team Preston will lead. Alan McGill has joined from KPMG, specialising in non-financial performance measurement, reporting and assurance. Jon Williams has joined from HSBC, where he was group head of sustainable development, to focus on financial services. And Will Day, a senior adviser to the United Nations Development Programme and a senior associate of the Cambridge Programme for Industry, has joined as a sustainability adviser in a part-time capacity.

Lord (John) Browne, Bill Emmott and Prof Paul Collier have been appointed to the advisory board of LicenseSecure, an assessment system for natural resources projects developed by Critical Resource, a UK consultancy. Lord Browne is managing director at Riverstone, the private equity firm, and former group chief executive of BP. Emmott is former editor of The Economist. Collier is an Oxford academic and author of The Bottom Billion.

Intertek Sustainability Solutions, a supply chain consultancy, has appointed Kathrin Bohr as director of sustainability advisory services. She joins from Canadian Business for Social Responsibility, the membership group.
