These are just some of the things that subscribers to the Ethical Corporation magazine will be reading about in the July / August edition.

The Country Briefing for the next issue will review the overall picture of corporate responsibility in Brazil. There will be an overview of the history of CR in Brazil and how it differs from other countries, a review of the big CR issues in Brazil and which companies and sectors CR it is most developed with case studies plus there will be an analysis of NGO and corporate viewpoints as well as the influence of Brazil’s government and its policies on sustainable business.

This issue's Special briefing will look at supply chains and key issues, risks and opportunities surrounding them. There will be in-depth case studies which include Nike, Adidas, Marks and Spencer and Levi Strauss. The final part of the briefing will analyse the methods used to solve problems in the supply chain.

Our EthicsWatch section will consist of a new study from Interphone that suggests that heavy users of mobile phones run a big risk of brain cancers. The second instalment will delve into social media and how’s it’s being embraced as a way to influence companies plus what aspects of social media are proving most effective for campaigning and changing behaviour. ILO in Haiti will be looked at in the third section with an analysis of what has been the model’s success and what are benefits/implications for companies outsourcing in Haiti. Finally there will be a review of Infant formula milk and how major manufacturers consistently break WHO regulations on marketing infant milk formula plus the background to this issue (including past activist campaign against Nestle).

The Feature piece will focus on full product transparency by reviewing Interface’s transparency initiative Environment Product Declaration. The feature article will; offer a background as to how Interface developed their initiative, how it impacts upon product design, what are other companies doing and is full product transparency the only answer? Drawbacks and criticisms?

In the Strategy & Management section McLibel will be the focus of our next instalment of classic corporate responsibility stories. The case study will look at the background of the McLibel story with interviews from key figure involved, offer answers as to where did McDonald’s go wrong and outline how the McLibel case affected McDonald’s and wider corporate behaviour? The second instalment in this section looks at remuneration related to CR metrics. Some of the key areas covered are; What specifically are the CR metrics that employees are being assessed against? What are the specific benefits for companies to include these? Can using CR metrics be affective for everyone? To whom should they be assigned and why? And who are the leaders and their views, including: Akzo Nobel, Heineken, Novo Nordisk, ING, Boots.

The corporate responsibility report Review section will look at Centrica and Verizon.
