OSI Pharmaceuticals selects EMAX Reagent Manager from SciQuest as enterprise solution for chemical inventory management

OSI will implement the EMAX Reagent Manager to support researchers in its laboratory facilities in Uniondale and Tarrytown, New York and at its site in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom. Included in the rollout is the EMAX e-Commerce Channel, designed to leverage extensions to the commerce XML (cXML) standard and reduce the time and cost involved in securing materials. According to SciQuest, the EMAX Reagent Manager enables researchers to manage the lifecycle of these materials, including usage, tracking and disposal.

"As the pace and volume of innovation accelerates, we are challenged to enhance our researchers' productivity by deploying both desktop tools and a supporting information infrastructure that gives them immediate access to and information about the materials they need to do research," said David Webb, Vice President of Technology at OSI Pharmaceuticals. "We anticipate that EMAX Reagent Manager will enable us to automate our chemical sourcing and procurement process across all of our sites."

The Reagent Manager includes the Java-based EMAX Researcher Desktop, designed to increase laboratory productivity by enabling researchers to rapidly find, source and use critical chemical and biological research materials. In addition, the Reagent Manager incorporates the EMAX e-Commerce Channel, which is fully integrated with the Sigma-Aldrich Pipeline (Partners in Procurement Efficiency) e-commerce system.

"Today's pharmaceutical research operations need enterprise-level software solutions that work across the organization and connect them to their strategic supply chain partners like Sigma-Aldrich," said Stephen Wiehe, CEO of SciQuest. "For rapidly growing biopharmaceutical organizations like OSI, EMAX Reagent Manager provides a scalable platform that delivers rapid value while supporting continued expansion."
