BioWisdom selects ThinkMap data animation technology for R&D information resource

BioWisdom hopes to help its users cut development costs and time through the integration of data from a wide range of fields, including chemistry and pharmacology and by creating a database for users interested in drug discovery and information technology. BioWisdom is using Thinkmap's technology to display and maintain the integrity of an integrated database once users begin to access, navigate, and search it.

BioWisdom is like a mall of biotechnology boutiques, says Arthur Thomas, a founder of BioWisdom. Thinkmap is the visualization tool that helps users navigate through extremely complex information, spot the unexpected, and identify new and related pieces of information.

BioWisdom's content is licensed from a range of public domain and third-party solution providers generating proprietary data. BioWisdom aggregates, integrates and re-packages content for scientists working within industry and academic organizations on drug targets.

There are 3,000 to 5,000 biotechnology companies in the world, said Thomas. Most don'st produce drugs; they produce proprietary informationgenomic, proteomic, chemical, pharmacological informationat great cost because of the complicated technology involved. BioWisdom will offer that information to scientists on a pay-per-view's basis. That could help cut drug development costswhile, at the same time, giving the solution providers a chance to recoup some of the considerable expense of developing the information.
