As the pressure to improve sales force productivity mounts, wireless technology is becoming increasingly important to pharmaceutical sales reps, and it is expected to deliver more than ever before to pharmas road-weary front lines. Delivering more is a tall order, however, when increasingly nomadic reps are always on the move but seldom online.

Deploying the right technology to meet reps needs is a daily challenge for Marnix Kint, field force support manager at Pfizer in Belgium. He says that while the goals for mobility initiatives are fairly straightforward (i.e. to increase rep productivity in the field; increase the mobility of business processes and information availability and sharing; decrease reps administration workloads; and improve tools synchronisation performance and speed), achieving those goals can be challenging.
