Domain Pharma re-launches as Clinsoft and signs agreement with Genuity

Expanding on the company's Clintrial & Clintrace data management systems, the Clinical Application Platform is designed to enable integration with applications from all phases of the clinical research process on a single, unified platform. Clinsoft believes the technology will enable biopharmaceutical and related companies to streamline their business processes, while ensuring data quality. By maximizing trial productivity, companies are able to identify failing products sooner and therefore focus on those products that are more likely to succeed.

Through internal development and partnerships with selected application providers, Clinsoft plans to create a single data platform that mirrors the business processes of their customers. The platform is designed to connect all aspects of the clinical research development process from predictive modelling, management logistics and patient recruitment to web capture, diaries, marketing and post launch support.

"Clinsoft has always recognized the importance of high-quality data in the clinical research process, which has enabled us to help our customers bring more products to market than any other company," said Dean Goodermote, CEO of Clinsoft. "With our Clinical Application Platform, we're providing our customers with a singe platform for gathering, integrating and analyzing this data across the entire research development process. We view this as a major advancement in helping our customers identify which drugs to focus on, discover new applications for existing therapies and bring more safe and efficacious products to market than ever before."

The platform is supported by the company's clinical database management system (CDMS) in conjunction with Clintrace, a system for adverse events tracking and reporting. Clinsoft is in the process of building an advanced middleware Application Program Interface (API's) to ensure the platform provides interoperability with a range of clients' systems and Web browsers.

"A single platform that allows all the applications spanning the pre-clinical, clinical and marketing phases of the product to connect into it could help transform the way future drugs and therapies are brought to market," said Allison Wilke, Director of Datamonitor's eHealthInsight group.

Clinsoft also announced an agreement with Genuity (genuity.com), an Internet infrastructure services provider. Under the terms of the agreement Genuity will provide secure, managed hosting services for Clinsoft's Web-based electronic data capture (EDC) and data management solution, Clintrial Connect.

The two companies will partner to provide pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies and research institutions with access to Clinsoft's clinical trial data management solutions, with minimal start-up time and lower initial investment. The partnership will design, install, manage, support and maintain Clintrial Connect, enabling companies to be up and running more quickly while ensuring network uptime, reliability and performance.

Genuity will host Clinsoft's Clintrial Connect solution, managing the Internet infrastructure to deliver a scalable connection between the sponsor and investigator site. Genuity will also host a demonstration site to showcase Clintrial Connect to prospective customers.

"We are committed to providing Clinsoft's customers with a first-rate experience as they work with Clintrial Connect to manage their clinical trials," said Karl Weintz, Vice President of e-Business Hosting at Genuity. "Our custom hosting service for Clintrial Connect focuses on security and reliability, both critical factors to the biopharmaceutical industry. It also focuses on scalability and ease of implementation, which are key elements of an ASP solution such as Clinsoft's, with its significant growth potential."

Clintrial Connect allows users to input data directly to the Clintrial database at the trial site in real-time, with on-the-spot elimination of data duplication.
