Online travel company Travelstart has started operations in Brazil by opening an office in Sao Paulo.

Brazil is Travelstart's 13th market and the third to be served by a local management team. The service, available at travelstart.com.br, handles flights from the GDS plus hotels and cars. From June, all local low cost carriers will be available for shopping.

"Our ambition is to have a presence on all continents before end of 2010. Brazil is a huge and underserved market with great potential," said founder Stephan Ekbergh.

"Brazil is, just like most emerging markets, going through a phase with tremendous success of the low cost carriers which spurs growth in travel and acceptance of Internet as a shopping channel. This is the type of environment that we like because we and our partners can play a pivotal role in change process and come out as marketleaders," added Ekbergh.
