Budget hotel chain Travelodge has invested £1 million in its website travelodge.co.uk, undergoing a make-over for a new look and feel to the site, enhanced architecture and functionality.

According to the company, it has launched the UK's first one-stop hotel website, where customers can get everything they need for their stay.

Some of the new functions include the launch of Explore UK (described as the UK's first service to be offered by a hotel company) that allows customers to view all attractions, sporting events, festivals and events within the area they are visiting. Visitors can also purchase tickets to top shows, attractions, concerts and exhibitions via the website.

Now, the users can book the room in five steps. Plus there is launch of interactive Google maps to help customers plan their journey and search for hotels using the maps. This facility also allows customers to compare price and availability of each Travelodge hotel within the area at one glance. There is an enhanced search facility, which allows customers to easily find saver £19 and £29 rooms.

Guy Parsons, Chief Operating Officer, Travelodge said over 87% of chain's room bookings are conducted online.

"This investment will help attract new consumers and offer our existing 6.5 million customers a bespoke service," said Parsons.

Travelodge, which operates 330 hotels, aims to be the biggest hotel operator in London by the 2012 Olympics with over 7,000 rooms in the Capital.
