Online travel agency Orbitz Worldwide has decided to reimburse the difference if its airfares go down after customers use it to book flights.

Orbitz will track prices from the time a ticket is purchased until the day of the flight and will issue cash refunds of between $5 and $250 per traveller for any difference, as per the information available.

"Even with high prices, Americans are continuing to travel," said Orbitz.com spokesman Brian Hoyt. "What's been constant in good times and bad is that level of anxiety that customers feel about whether they're going to get the best deal."

Orbit's competitors, too, are considering comparable offerings.

"If Orbitz is a success, I would expect others, including us, to potentially follow up," Jeff Boyd, Priceline president and CEO was quoted as saying.
