emc3i has disclosed the identity of accommodation only brand Alternativa Hotels (Alternativahotels.com).

The venture is led by former Thomas Cook Director John Davis, who tasked parent company emc3i with building an extensive portfolio of leisure brands for the pan-European, and North and South American markets.

Alternativa Hotels is initially targeted at the North and South American, UK, Eastern European and Latin/Italian markets and is available in three languages, rising to 11 by 2010. It features over 70,000 hotels and apartments in over 100 countries.

There will be three dedicated sites to run in unison to service each targeted market sector – www.alternativahotels.com www.alternativahoteles.es and www.alternativahotels.it – all featuring prices from as little as £1 per person per night, subject to availability, destination and arrival date.

Davis said: "Alternativa Hotels is unique in providing market dedicated sites in three languages, and will maximise the appeal to a wider audience, making travel more affordable and accessible for everyone worldwide. While the accommodation only market in the UK is well established in other territories the concept is still in its infancy, making Alternativa Hotels a front runner to establish a strong presence in new regions and markets."

He added, "We are confident that our extensive portfolio of competitive and bookable products, will attract important customers who expect, live pricing, latest deals, quality, choice and security at the very least from today's online providers."
