Global Logistics and Supply Chain Report Delves into Emerging Industry Trends

eft’s 2016 Q1 & Q2 Hot Trends Research Report explores some of the trends dominating the conversations in the supply chain and logistics industry to form a benchmark for future strategy.

eft has surveyed over 400 senior logistics and supply chain executives on the hot trends driving the industry forward, exploring the key areas of the consumer-driven supply chain, chatbots and robots, the rise of the innovation centre and driverless trucks. The report provides a revealing insight into the current state of innovation in supply chain.

Of this year’s results, Sarah Reynolds, Director of eft’s Global 3PL accounts comments, ‘My conversations with industry executives often point to the opportunities presented by new technology and innovation. Key statistics uncovered by the report include:

·         Driverless Trucks: 51% of the industry is expecting driverless trucks in their operations by 2025

·         Innovation Centres: 54% of the industry has an innovation centre in their organization

·         Robots: Only 24% of respondents have robots in their supply chain

·         Consumer-Driven: 50% of consumer-driven supply chains are reporting better customer retention

Dirk-Jan de Bruijn, Programme Director for the EU Truck Platooning Challenge which drove a convoy of autonomous trucks across Europe will join the 3PL Summit and Chief Supply Chain Officer Forum, eft’s major European event for supply chain and logistics professionals in Venlo this October 10-12.
