Chicline.com, a search engine and web directory for tourism in Paris, has announced its first Chinese version.

The new initiative is in response to the growing number of Chinese tourists planning trips to the City of Lights, according to the company.

Chicline.com marketing manager Thierry Chevalier said, "The goal of our site is to provide information of all kinds to the wide variety of tourists who wish to come to Paris. The Chinese people's increasing interest in Paris as a destination is an important one, and we want to make them feel welcome in our city, even before they've left their homes".

More pages are constantly being added to the Chinese version of Chicline.com, which will be completed in the coming months, said the company.

"Paris is the world's most popular tourist destination, drawing over 26 million visitors from around the globe, each year. The people of China have become increasingly drawn to Paris -- 400,000 of its citizens came to discover Paris in 2004 alone. Experts estimate that by 2010, the number of Chinese tourists visiting international sites will expand to a staggering 36 million, and a large part will be making Paris their destination," stated the company. "Chinese-speaking tourists can log on now to find a friendly welcome in their native language, as well as useful links and information. And this is only the beginning: soon, the entire site will be available in Continental Chinese."
