Worldspan has chosen SDL International to deliver outsourced localisation services for its corporate travel management solution, Trip Manager XE, a web-based self-booking tool in use by travel agencies and their corporate clients worldwide.

As part of its corporate strategy to grow global revenues from its diversified product range, Worldspan recently launched the Italian language version of Worldspan Trip Manager XE. Worldspan contracted with SDL International to deliver localised versions of the user interface as well as the supporting documentation and help functions.

As per the information available, this allows Worldspan to provide corporations, their corporate travel managers and Worldspan partner travel agencies with a completely Italian application for managing travel programs and expenditures.

SDL International has also provided additional language and dialect support for localization of Worldspan Trip Manager XE in French Canadian, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mexican Spanish.

Acknowledging that SDL has supported Worldspan’s product development for a number of years, Graham Nichols, Worldspan vice president and general manager EMEAA said. “Trip Manager XE continues to become more sophisticated for local market users and SDL’s expertise and translation services help give our solutions the necessary competitive edge.”

Working with Worldspan as an outsourced partner, SDL has been able to leverage its technology portfolio for project workflow management, terminology management, translation memory and sophisticated quality checking. SDL’s localisation services form part of its Global Information Management (GIM) solution portfolio.

“SDL technologies learn from each translation project, resulting in a substantial database of Worldspan’s approved terminology and translated content,” said John Tridgell, Travel Industry Marketing Manager at SDL. “Moving forward, Worldspan will continue to see improvements in efficiencies and time to market by leveraging this database for ongoing updates to Trip Manager XE.”
