General Mills, a manufacturer and marketer of consumer foods sold through retail stores, has appointed Jerry Lynch as its chief sustainability officer. Lynch succeeds Gene Kahn, who announced his retirement from General Mills in September.

The Ethical Trading Initiative has appointed Peter McAllister as its new director. McAllister will take up his position in October.

Rexel, the international electrical suppliers, has announced the appointment of Xavier Galliot as group director of sustainable development. He reports to Pascal Giet, senior vice-president for communications and sustainable development.

The World Bank has appointed Daniel M Kammen as its first clean tech “czar”. The bank is attempting to meet growing demand for financing of low-carbon projects in developing countries. Kammen’s official title is chief technical specialist for renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Safeway has appointed Jonathan Mayes senior vice-president of government relations, public affairs, corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. Previously Mayes was senior corporate counsel for Lucky Stores.

Global real estate company Jones Lang LaSalle has made two key appointments. Joel Quintal who will take on the role of director of sustainability, Australia, and Matt Clifford named as national sustainability manager in the US.

The US Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association (HVCA) has appointed David Frise to the new senior post of head of sustainability.

Allen & York has recently announced its acquisition of JSM Associates, which strengthens its global sustainability recruitment consultancy
