The top 10 most popular logistics/supply chain stories of 2014

As we move into 2015, it is customary that eft’s CEO, Chris Saynor takes a look back at the previous 12 months and highlights the supply chain topics that were of most interest to eft readers.

We have therefore collated the top 10 most read articles that appeared on eft.com in 2014.

The most popular article last year was about Google Glass and how it could be used in the supply chain, as a point of interest in 2013 an article on 3D printing took the number one slot. I think this shows that ‘the future’, or maybe ‘the unknown’ is of the most interest to supply chain professionals. The disruptive possibilities that technologies such as augmented reality and 3D printing could offer the supply chain are only in their infancy, and it is this factor that gives these technologies their popular interest.

The 2nd and 3rd most popular articles looked at two European apparel retailers in the guise of Zara and the internet only ASOS operation. The speed of the European fast fashion market, coupled with intense competition and a mature e-commerce market leads to some great supply chain innovation in this industry, which the rest of the world and other industries can learn from.

I think in the coming 12 months technology and retail e-commerce will continue to be the most popular topics for eft readers. Specifically I would expect to see ‘Autonomous Vehicles’ feature highly in 2015 along with innovative delivery ideas for e-commerce, maybe some type of crowd-sourced delivery solution.

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on what we should look out for in 2015.
