Nine-in-10 US fleet operators think AI will be a key tool this holiday season
Eighty-eight percent think it will reduce pressure on their business and 100% see it as useful for improving vehicle maintenance
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is emerging as a critical enabling tool for US fleets this holiday season, reducing pressures on drivers, vehicles and businesses through allocating resources and improving fleet operations says survey.
According to an online survey from Merchants Fleet and Atomik Research of consumer goods shipping decision makers, 88% see AI as useful in alleviating pressures on their fleets this peak delivery season.
That help will come in numerous areas say the survey participants, with a unanimous 100% of the sample agreeing that predictive maintenance via AI would reduce vehicle downtime, 91% believing it can improve driver safety, and 90% seeing it as being a more efficient way to allocate resources to meet demand.
Lower shares, but still a majority of respondents, said that AI would optimise supply chains (67%), improve route optimisation (65%), enhance inventory management (62%), and aid in scheduling and route planning (53%).
Overall, 56% of the fleet decision-makers surveyed see AI as being important to manage disruptions throughout the peak delivery season, which is seen as the major risk.
“The insights from our survey confirm that fleet leaders are increasingly confident in AI’s ability to ease stress on both their resources and workforce, making it a potential game-changer for holiday logistics,” commented Dr. Suzannah Hicks, AI Strategist at Merchants Fleet.
