Taking the guesswork out of micro generation

Better Generation has introduced a device that measures the amount of solar power and wind energy that could be generated by home owners and businesses.

The device, called the Power Predictor, forecasts how long it takes to recover the costs of installing renewable energy equipment. As a site assessment tool, it assesses the suitability of a site for renewable energy, specifically solar and wind.

The company highlighted that until now, there has been no single device capable of measuring how much solar and wind energy a particular site can generate.

Toby Hammond, inventor of the Power Predictor and managing director of Better Generation, the focus has been on coming up with a offering that is not based on modelled data, which is often inaccurate, but on site specific data.

The company, which was set up in 2006 to make micro generation easy and affordable, says the device takes the guesswork out of micro generation because it is based on site-specific data that shows just how much can really be saved rather than on modelled data which is considered by many to be highly inaccurate. It will sell for £99.95 with trade prices available on application. According to the company, this price is much cheaper than anything similar on the market - about a fifth of comparable devices.

The device also recommends the most cost-effective form of renewable energy and the most appropriate equipment manufacturers.
