New milestone for wind power in the UK

A record-breaking amount of clean electricity was generated by wind power in the U. K. last week.

According to National Grid, the 6 GW-mark was achieved for the first time on 29th November. The entity measures electricity generation in half-hour periods.

From 2.30pm until 3pm, wind power produced an average of 6,004 MW, which accounted for 13.5% of the UK’s total electricity demand at that time.

The previous record, set on 15th September this year, was 5,739MW.
