Dong Energy signs deal with Seajacks

Dong Energy has chosen to work with Seajacks International Ltd.  for installation of wind turbines on Walney 1 and Walney 2 windfarms, which are to be located in the Irish Sea.

Total contract value excluding mobilisation and demobilisation is a minimum of approx. $70 million up to a maximum of approx. $79 million depending on the duration of the period between final conclusion of Walney 1 and commencement of Walney 2. As per Dong Energy’s plans, during the 2010 – 2012 period, the company plans to construct phase I and II of the Walney Offshore Windfarm, located approximately 15km off Walney Island, Cumbria, in the Irish Sea. The project will be constructed in two phases. Each phase comprises 51turbines with a total capacity of approximately 370MW.

Seajacks Kraken has been contracted for a firm period of approximately 15 months from June 15th 2010, while Seajacks Leviathan has been contracted for three months from May 15th 2011. This excludes mobilisation and demobilisation.

Seajacks Kraken is currently working on a five-month contract for ExxonMobil Offshore Canada, and the soon  to be delivered sister vessel Seajacks Leviathan will be starting a 15-month contract in September 2009,  installing wind turbines for Fluor Ltd. on the  Greater Gabbard wind farm off the Essex and Suffolk  coast of the North Sea.

Post this announcement, Seajacks took delivery of its second liftboat, the Seajacks Leviathan.

Including the contracts with Dong Energy, Seajacks’ two liftboats have a contract backlog of approximately 41 months, which is expected to generate timecharter revenues of US$ 174 million (including mobilisation / demobilisation fees).
