Enel Green Power and SoWiTec sign agreement

Enel Green Power (EGP), through its subsidiary Enel Latin America (Chile) Limitada, has signed a project development agreement with SoWiTec Energias Renovables de Chile Ltda, an affiliate of the German developer SoWiTec international GmbH.

The deal will focus on developing several wind power projects in Chile for a total capacity of up to 850 MW.

Enel will have exclusive access to several wind power projects being developed by SoWiTec, as well as the right to acquire these projects once they are fully authorised.

The projects, with preliminary installed capacity of between 60 MW and 150 MW, would boost Enel’s presence in Chile’s growing renewable energy market where the Italian group already has 90 MW of wind capacity and various geothermal concessions, it said.

Last year, Enel and SoWiTec joined forces to develop wind power projects in Brazil worth up to 1,000 MW.
