MASEN announces the pre-qualified bidders for the 300 MW NOOR CSP Next Program (Q4 2013).

Seven consortia have been identified as potential bidders for the 200 MW Noor II and 100 MW Noor III projects in Ouarzazate.

In January this year the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) launched a Request for Qualification (RFQ) for prospective developers for the next phase of its NOOR solar power complex in Ouarzazate. With the 160 MW Noor 1 CSP Parabolic Trough project already in construction, the second phase of the complex will see the development of a 200 MW Parabolic Trough plant and a 100 MW Tower.

Today, 1 August 2013, MASEN has indicated that the prequalified bidders are now able to submit a formal Request for Proposals (RFP).
According to the official announcement by MASEN, a total of 7 consortia are pre-qualified to bid for the Noor II and Noor III projects. They are

NOOR II (200 MW Parabolic Trough):
1. Abengoa SA and Abengoa Solar;
2. International Company For Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power) and Sener Grupo De Ingeneria SA; and
3. International Power SA (Dubaï branch of GDF Suez) and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC/MASDAR.

NOOR III (100 MW Tower):
1. Abengoa SA and Abengoa Solar;
2. EDF SA, EDF Energies Nouvelles SA, Brightsource Energy Inc, Brookstone Partners Morocco SA, Alstom Power System SA and Mitsui & Co Ltd;
3. International Company For Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power) and Sener Ingeneria y Systemas; and
4. International Power SA (Dubaï branch of GDF Suez), Solar Reserve LLC and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC/MASDAR.

The RFP launch is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2013.
