SHEC Energy and Cleanergy join forces to launch an advanced solar Stirling engine offering.

SHEC Energy Corporation and Cleanergy have signed an MOU for the joint development of a high efficiency solar Stirling engine.

SHEC Energy’s high efficiency solar receiver technology will be married with Cleanergy’s proven Stirling engine technology to develop the world’s most advanced solar Stirling engine offering.

Tom Beck, CEO of SHEC Energy says "We are very pleased to be working with Cleanergy and apply our technology to this application.  It is a natural fit.  Our solar receiver technology can harness concentrated solar energy at high temperatures with very little emissivity or radiant energy loss.”

Anders Koritz, CEO of Cleanergy says "We are pleased to be working with SHEC Energy as they have unique technology solutions for the efficient collection of solar energy at the higher temperatures needed for our stirling engine.  We have a proven Stirling engine technology that has operated in the field for 15 years.  With the application of SHEC Energy’s receiver technology, we anticipate dramatically reducing the size of the solar collection dish while maintaining the same level of power output.  This will result in overall reduced system cost.”

Upon the completion of the joint technology development effort over the next several months, both companies will jointly develop the market to exploit this technology.  The initial product offering will be for 10 kW systems that can be paralleled for larger installations.  A substantial market has already been identified which could exploit tens of thousands of systems.

SHEC Energy
SHEC Energy has developed super concentrating solar power solutions that can generate high temperatures with very low radiant energy losses.  SHEC Energy has also developed complementary high temperature heat carrier and storage technologies.  Higher temperature solar collection makes for more efficient power generation for both smaller scale power generation using Stirling engines, and utility scale projects using steam turbines.

Cleanergy AB
Cleanergy is one of the world’s leading engine manufacturers in the Stirling technology area. It offers two variants of mini power plants; one for Biogas / Natural Gas and one for Solar Power. The units are of open source configuration and have the capacity of 10kW electric power, the Combined Heat and Power unit for Biogas / Natural Gas also generates 26 kW thermal power. Cleanergy’s Stirling units have a very long lifespan, high efficiency and are environmentally friendly.

In 2009, Cleanergy moved the production of Stirling engines to the newly refurbished plant in Sweden from Germany in order to scale up the production. Cleanergy now has the ability to offer its products to a larger amount of customers, all around the world.
