Solar Millenium counts on the “positive mood” in the US

The company is hopeful of breaking ground on a 250-megawatt solar power plant in Amargosa Valley in 2010.

Josef Eichhammer, chief executive officer of Solar Millenium LCC, has indicated that the current push for renewable energy in Congress will make it possible for his company to break ground on its 250-megawatt solar power plant in Amargosa Valley in 2010.

Referring to the 250-megawatt (MW) solar trough technology plant located in Nye County, Eichhammer said when talking to politicians and authorities in Nevada, as well as in other states and also in Washington, there is usually a very positive mood when it comes to the construction of solar-thermal power plants.

Solar Millenium recently announced that the begun the groundwork for what could be one or more solar power plants in Southern Nevada.

He also said that the start of construction in 2010 will also be a plus for the financial side of the project, since Solar Millenium  will be able to finance 30% of the project within the framework of President Obama’s Economic Stimulus Bill.
