Schott Solar signs first deal with DC Power Systems

Schott Solar has entered into a multi-year supply contract with DC Power Systems to supply the company with over 13 MW of photovoltaic modules.

The contract is the first one between the two companies.

Schott plans to manufacture the modules in its two US sites: one in Billerica, Mass., and one under construction in Albuquerque, N.M.

The modules from the $100 million New Mexico plant are expected to be available starting in spring 2009.

It was in January this year when Schott had shared its plans of constructing a new solar energy technology production facility in the Mesa del Sol region of Albuquerque. Initially, the production site will manufacture receivers for (CSP) and 64 Megawatts of photovoltaic (PV) modules. The facility is expected to begin production in 2009 and immediately create 350 jobs. Long term plans call for 1,500 employees representing a total investment of $500 million.
