Rioglass Solar to start a new factory in Spain in May

The company is targetting expansion outside Spain, too.

Rioglass Solar S.A, a parabolic mirror manufacturer for CSP projects, is to start its new mirror factory in Asturias, Spain next month.

Sharing the developments with CSPToday.com, the company’s spokesperson Jordi Villanueva said that Rioglass Solar has finalised the start-up process.

Now, we are in the ramp up phase and will be fully up and running by the end of May,” shared Villanueva.

Apart from its expansion in Spain, the company is also considering a location for its mirror plant in the US in the near future.

Rioglass Solar, which has been associated with the likes of MAN Solar Millennium AG in the CSP industry, was the first parabolic mirror manufacturer to offer a fully tempered product, according to Villanueva.

Parabolic mirrors made from glass can be “single-block” (one single piece of glass) or “laminated” (two pieces of glass “glued” together).
