Plans for solar thermal demonstration plant gains momentum

Plans for a solar thermal power demonstration plant to be built in northern suburb of Beijing are gaining momentum.

The planning department of Yanqing County, Beijing recently announced that China's first solar thermal power demonstration plant will be built in the Badaling area.

It is being said that the architectural designs for the solar power tower of the plant have already been approved.

The Badaling demonstration and experimental base project of solar thermal electricity generation technologies and systems is a major innovative and environmental protection project conducted by the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, reported People's Daily Online.

Earlier this year, it was shared that with 1.5MW installed capacity, the power station will provide scientists from both home and abroad with basic experimental facilities for the research of the technology of high-temperature solar energy conversion, serving as an important research base of solar thermal power generation technology in China.
