A new revolutionary mirror for Concentrated Solar Power market

A new product has been recently launched that is going to be a revolution in the solar thermal market.

The company Alucoil, located in Miranda de Ebro (Spain) with a wide experience in the treatment of aluminium, has developed a multilaminar aluminium mirror, under the commercial brand of ALMIRR®. This product will finish with the existing operational problems associated with the use of traditional glass mirrors, such as breakage costs, which lead to important handling and installation savings.

The strong R+D investment has allowed the development of a high reflective coating that reaches similar levels than traditional glass mirrors with a global flat reflection of over 90%.

The main difference in respect to other similar products is the multilaminar composition, made from several aluminium layers and a core of plastic resins, which gives the product a remarkable rigidity.

Alucoil has developed a light product, extremely abrasion resistant, stiff; but with optimal mechanical properties for its transformation. ALMIRR® has an excellent level of durability and resistance, thanks to a special ceramic protective coating.

Its ease of handling, excellent flatness and bending properties, makes it a suitable election for parabolic trough collectors, central receiver systems, linear Fresnel reflector systems and low concentration photovoltaic systems.

The aim of this Spanish company is the same as the main goal of concentrated solar power industry: to reduce costs in order to make this technology commercially more profitable. Solar thermal technology has to be a feasible alternative to traditional power procedures.
