AORA raises $5 million

Isreali company plans commercial hybrid solar thermal gas-turbine power station in Kibbutz Samar

Israel's AORA, which recently changed its name from EDIG Solar, has raised $5 million in a round of series A funding led by EZKlein Partners, EDIG Construction and L&Q Solar, a group of international solar energy investors.

AORA, which recently bagged Israel's first licence for a solar thermal energy plant, will use the funds to commission a commercial hybrid solar thermal gas-turbine power station in Kibbutz Samar in Israel's Arava region. AORA's system claims to combine the benefits of hybridisation, modularity, CHP, and operational flexibility. AORA's chief technology officer Pinchas Doron told CSPToday.com that as the system is modular, AORA is able install any multiple of its base unit - each rated at 100kW.
