Abengoa plans new parabolic trough projects in the US

Abengoa Solar builds industrial installations in Arizona and New York

Abengoa Solar is strengthening its industrial installations in the US, with two new projects, based in Arizona and New York. Large-scale parabolic trough technology will be employed in both projects.

Abengoa's Arizona plant will be located in in Tuba City on the Navajo Indian reservation at a facility operated by the the US Department of Energy (DOE). This installation will provide heat to displace coal-based electricity used at a plant treating ground-water contaminated by a former uranium-processing mill.

The other industrial system is being built for Steinway & Sons, in Long Island City, NY. This will be the first project in the US to integrate a parabolic trough collector system with a two-stage absorption chiller, according to Abengoa Solar.
