Ma'an Development Company focuses on development of CSP

Ma'an Development Company (MDC) and Millennium Energy Industries have signed an MoU.

As per the MoU, the two parties are to cooperate and create a research and development centre for renewable energy at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University in Ma'an.  Through joint efforts, they will fund and install pilot projects for concentrated solar thermal power systems along with other areas in solar energy.

Mohammed Turk, CEO, MDC said the initiative is part of the plan to promote the use of renewable energy in the South of Jordan.

According to a report filed by Al Bawaba, the main focus of this collaboration would be on attracting potential investors and industries to the MDA, by offering them viable and cost-efficient solar energy solutions.

Through joint efforts, the two entities will fund and install pilot projects for solar cooling, photovoltaic heating and concentrated solar thermal power systems, most notably in the Ma'an Development Area, servicing residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

MEI will also be conducting a feasibility study to determine the viability of establishing concentrated solar power facilities for large scale power production in Ma'an.
