FPL signs contract with Lauren Engineers & Constructors

The two companies have signed a contract for Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center, the largest solar thermal plant outside of California. 

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) has chosen Lauren Engineers & Constructors as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for a new 75 MW CSP plant located near Indiantown, FL. 

This project, named the Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center, will be located on 500 acres of land adjacent to FPL’s Martin Plant. 

The project, whcih will use parabolic trough technology and include around 200,000 parabolic mirrors, will produce 155,000 MWh of power annually. It is described as the first hybrid solar facility in the world to connect to an existing combined-cycle power plant.  

To its credit, Lauren also built the Nevada Solar One Power Plant, a 64 MW solar power plant located in Boulder City, Nevada.
