Foster Wheeler signs deal for Gemasolar project

Engineering and construction contractor Foster Wheeler AG has bagged a contract from SENER-AMSA JV to design and supply the steam generating equipment for the new Gemasolar project tower-type CSP plant in Seville.

The Gemasolar project is the first commercial plant in the world with a central tower receiver using molten salt technology.

According to Foster Wheeler, a subsidiary of its Global Power Group has been chosen for the contract.

SENER-AMSA also awarded Foster Wheeler the feedwater heater equipment contract for the facility.

Earlier this year, Torresol Energy, the strategic alliance between Spanish engineering group SENER and Masdar, had finalised its 171 million euro financing deal to start construction work related to Gemasolar. The EPC contract was awarded to a consortium, comprising SENER and AMSA, a ACS Cobra subsidiary.
