E.ON sees potential in solar thermal power plants

The group sees a lot of potential for solar thermal power plants in sun-rich regions and is preparing for such projects.

 
E.ON is ready to strengthen its renewables portofolio with the addition of solar thermal energy.

According to E.ON’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Wulf H. Bernotat, the solar energy “is mature enough” for the group to become more active in this arena. The company, which will will invest an average of €10 billion in each of the next three years (2009-2011), is already preparing for large-scale solar power plants located in sun-rich regions. Speaking during the company’s annual earnings press conference, Dr. Bernotat, said in particular, E. ON sees a lot of potential for solar thermal power plants in sun-rich regions.
 

E.ON Climate & Renewables is actively involved in the development of promising technologies and this includes solar thermal power.

 
With double-digit growth rates, renewables remain a growth business and one that E.ON intends to expand and make one of its core businesses.
