AORA’s station to start production

The Israeli company has been planning to operate its commercial hybrid solar thermal gas-turbine power station in the Arava Valley.

AORA Solar is set to commence production of clean energy at its power station located at Kibbutz Samar in the Arava Valley, according to greenprophet.com.

The station is expected to produce around 100 kilowatts of power as well as 170 kilowatts of heat capacity.

The company, which had raised $5 million in a round of series A funding earlier this year, has developed a solar-hybrid power generation unit based on its relationship with the Weizmann Institute of Science. According to the company, its solar thermal technology differs in that other applications use the heat of the sun to power a steam turbine, whereas its technology is the first commercial use of a solarised gas turbine (100kWe microturbine).
