Abengoa Solar’s efforts recognised in the US

The company has been applauded for bringing in capital investment and hiring of employees by the Jefferson County Economic Development Agency.

Abengoa Solar has been chosen for the Industrial Recognition Prize in the US.

Emiliano García, GM of the company in the US, received the award through which the Jefferson County Economic Development Agency has acknowledged Abengoa Solar’s contribution to the economic development of the county.

The Economic Development Agency also highlighted Abengoa Solar’s commitment to business growth through capital investment and hiring of employees, which has had a positive impact on Jefferson County.

While Abengoa has contributed in terms of job generation, overall, there is a mixed viewpoint regarding whether solar energy plants employ enough people to have a significant enough economic impact on the state.

To its credit, Abengoa has been involved in the largest installation for producing heat for industrial processes, in California, as well as current promotional activity involving Solana, a parabolic trough collector solar station with 280 megawatts of power output capacity.
