Abengoa ready for new CSP plant in Spain

Spanish engineering company Abengoa Solar has started construction on its second concentrating solar power plant in the town of Logrosán, located in the province of Cáceres.

This parabolic trough technology plant will go into operation mid-2011. It will have a power output capacity of 50 megawatts, enough to power approximately 25,000 households.

The first plant is already under construction in the same location. Both power stations will be part of the Extremadura Solar Platform.

Last month, Abengoa Solar started operations of the new PS20 solar power tower plant located at the Solúcar Platform, near Seville. It is the biggest of its kind in the world, delivering electricity to 10,000 homes.
