Kissei Pharmaceutical live e-learning software from Centra to deliver drug updates to sales reps

Kissei is focused primarily on research and development in the areas of immunology, endocrinology, cardiovascular systems, urogenital systems and ophthalmology. The company has launched several new drugs over the past year, including treatments for Parkinson's disease, HIV infection, glaucoma and estrogen replacement.

Following changes in the Japanese pharmaceutical industry, including the reform of the health insurance system, reorganization of the provision of health care services, and growing competition on a global scale, Kissei implemented the FORWARD PLAN 21's in early 2000. The plan, which is a follow up to Project 21's introduced in 1995, adds to the goals of strengthening the company's competitive position and expanding its operational scale.

Kissei's sales and marketing organization selected Centra's virtual classroom software as a way of helping them to improve productivity, develop their human resources and strengthen their ability to compete by shortening the time to market.

Japan has the world's fastest aging population per capita, said Touru Katase, Operating Manager of Kissei Pharmaceutical's Medical Drug Planning Department. This fact presents tremendous opportunity for pharmaceutical companies and creates a compelling need to train medical sales representatives on new drugs and drug treatments. Because it allows us to deliver effective training and information quickly over the Internet, Centra is the perfect solution to help us address this immense challenge.
