Now for the big reveal.

I've been trying to work out how to make sure that this blog will be useful for corporate comms/marketing professionals.

On the train home from work a couple of days ago, I had an idea.

As I would hope you know if you're reading this, I'm running the Corporate Social Media Summit. A huge part of my job is marketing the event, and trying to get attendees to stump up the cash to come along.

I do three main kinds of marketing

1) Physical mailings

2) Email and 'old-style' online marketing (ie display ads and listings)

3) Social marketing

My plan is to report back, weekly, and compare the effectiveness of each marketing channel. I have no problem with going into detail, posting results, and giving you examples of the copy I've used. I am willing to take on board suggestions, try them out in real world marketing, and report back to you with the results.

Hopefully, this will mean youwill get solid, measurable statistics on the effectiveness of social media marketing in comparison with other marketing channels.

I'll be back in touch on Friday with my first batch of results. Any feedback is most welcome.

Thanks,

Nick
